Introduction
If you enjoy exciting and straightforward action games, you have to give the card
game Golf a try. At Cardgames.club there are four players at the table, who are
dealt four cards each, but the game can also be played with two or five or six
players and different numbers of cards. There are variants with six and with eight cards.
Golf is played with a standard deck
of 52 cards. The objective of the game is to have the lowest score at the end of
the game, just like in the sport with the same name. A game of Golf is finished
after nine rounds.
Playing
The dealer shuffles the deck and
deals each player four cards face down. Players can have a quick look at their
first two cards, after which they must keep them face down till the end of
the round. The player sitting at the left hand-side of the dealer is the
first to act. She can either take the top card from the deck or the top card
from the discard pile. If she takes the top card from the deck, she can
either exchange that card with one of her cards or discard it face up on
the discard pile. If she takes the top card from the discard pile, she must
swap it with one of their cards and then discard a card face up on the
discard pile.
The round continues in a clockwise direction, with each player taking turns to draw and discard cards until one of the players “knocks”. The player who “knocks” cannot swap a card, but the other players can only swap a card one more time. When they have done so all players turn their cards face up and the scores are counted.
Scoring
The objective of the game is to have
the lowest possible score at the end of the game. The score is calculated by
adding up the face value of the cards in the player's hand, with the exception
of Aces, which are worth one point, and Kings, which are worth zero points.
Players score the total face value of the cards.
The player with the lowest score at the end of nine rounds is the winner.
